Visit of the commission of the GAP (Budget Support Group) of Cape Verde, to B.B.S.

On the 16th of june, a commiion of the GAP, Budget Support Group of the Cape Verdean Government formed by representatives of the following organisms, visited our company:

-National Planning Office (NPO)

-World Bank (WB)

-African Development Bank (ADB)

-Cooperation Agency of Spain

– Cooperation Agency of Portugal

– Cooperation Agency of Luxembourg


During 61 minutes one of our Administrators offered the group full explanations about B.B.S., especially about the important capacity of producing mechanical fine sand, the aggregates´ market problem in Cape Verde, the unfair competition of this market in the Island of Sal and other issues that the members of the GAP showed interest, such as:

  • Area where beach sad is extracted and the quantity extracted for public and private construction.
  • Aggregates ‘prices, especially mechanical fine sand.
  • Main clients
  • Percentage of local workers
  • Waste treatment generated by production
  • Consumption and form of energy generation


They could also appreciate the strong commitment that B.B.S. has with the professional training of Cape Verdean staff, the environmental protection, the sustainable production and transformation of aggregates, the manufacturing of high quality basalt, and the important stock stored of different granulometries, as well as the most immediate projects of the firm.

Likewise, they visited all the departments of the Industrial Unit, starting from the admission area, administration, weighing and auditing area, following  the extraction area, transformation of raw materials area, basalt stone manufacturing area ( cut and polish), storage area of aggregates (bulk, gravel, sand…) and the storage area of pallets and Big- Bags of decorative basalt stone.
